Overview:

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for sourcing, attracting and recruiting healthcare professionals and physicians across various disciplines for both Huron Health System sites; Alexandra Marine and General Hospital (AMGH) and South Huron Hospital (SHH). The Talent Acquisition Specialist works closely with Human Resources and hiring leaders to determine requirements, source candidates, lead the full cycle recruitment process and ensure a positive candidate experience. Key responsibilities also include promoting the hospital as an employer of choice and contributing to diversity and inclusion initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree with specialization in Human Resources
  • Certificate in Human Resources Management and CHRL designation is preferred
  • Expert use of external recruitment resources including LinkedIn, Indeed, and social media platforms

 

 

Required Skills:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in recruiting, with a focus on healthcare or physician recruitment preferred
  • Familiarity with physician licensing requirements and medical specialties is required
  • Proven track record in developing and executing creative recruitment strategies to attract and retain top healthcare professionals
  • Experience working with collective agreement language, employee relations issues and understanding of HR legislation
  • Knowledge of and experience with recruiting practices, candidate process management, behaviour interviewing skills and assessment techniques
  • Knowledge of recruitment software and applicant tracking systems
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence and engage candidates effectively
  • Strong negotiation skills and understanding of physician compensation packages
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards

 

 

Abilities:

GENERAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with human resources and senior leadership to shape and execute the Hospital recruitment strategy ensuring alignment with organizational growth and care delivery goals
  • Develop creative sourcing approaches to attract highly qualified candidates to the organization
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to determine hiring needs and streamline the recruitment process
  • Partner with Physicians to develop opportunity profiles and develop recruitment strategies
  • Identify and source targeted physicians using a variety of creative and effective recruitment methods including online promotion, networking, conference attendance, referral programs, telephone interviews, and website mining
  • Design recruiting initiatives at area residency programs; develop and maintain relationships with medical institutions and develop strategies to enhance the recruitment pipeline
  • Conduct telephone screens with candidates to determine quality and fit for the organization
  • Oversee the locum hiring and positing on the HFO Job boards and other sourcing sites
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to independently plan, organize, prioritize, schedule, coordinate, and make decisions relating to the assigned tasks
  • Direct and coordinate candidate itineraries, organize candidate site visits including tours of facilities and the community at large and scheduling key meetings

 

 ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Attend and participate in identified training and/or education updates as deemed necessary to maintain competence with AMGH privacy, safety, and operational practices
  • For example: WHMIS, Hand Hygiene, Privacy, Emergency Preparedness and others as assigned
  • Follow formal procedures and instructions and make proper use of protective equipment and safety equipment as supplied by the hospital including
  • For example: Wear/use required PPE, lift equipment and other items as applicable
  • Know and follow policies and procedures applicable to assigned duties
  • Not to interfere with, alter, misuse or remove anything provided for safety, except where authorized to do so
  • Report all accidents, injuries, good catches/near misses/adverse events and dangerous events;

 

HOURS OF WORK

  • Full time 37.5 hours/week
  • Part time as assigned
  • Primarily week days with occasional evening and weekend work
  • Ability to travel as required
