Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Secretarial program of a community college
 

Required Skills:

  • Two to five years recent work experience as an Admitting Clerk 
  • Hospital experience preferred
 

Abilities:

  • Ability to handle stressful situations and changing priorities

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and desire to work in a team environment

  • Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills

  • Computer literate and thorough knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Hospital Software experience an asset)

  • Coordinating short stay admissions e.g.  blood transfusions

  • Customer focused and have a track record of positive patient relations

  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Medical Terminology

  • Experience coordinating OR admissions

  • Experience with month end reporting of admission statistics

  • Experience with OR plus (Meditech)

  • Experience with Repatriation/One Number

  • Must be able and willing to work all shifts as required

  • Professional demeanour and excellent attendance are required

  • Sort, prepare, review and file various documents

  • Well organized and demonstrates initiative
