Overview:

AMGH is seeking one part-time, Registered Nurse to provide quality patient care on its Medical Surgical/Obstetrics unit. New graduates are encouraged to apply to this position and will be eligible for training in areas such as:

  • Regional Maternal Newborn Orientation Program
  • Fetal Health Surveillance
  • Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NRP) certification
  • Code White certification/ Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
  • MORE OB Program

Qualifications:

  • Current BCLS certification
  • Current registration and certification of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Undergraduate degree in Nursing preferred)


 

Required Skills:

Related experience in the following areas are considered an asset:

  • Breastfeeding Course/Certificate
  • Recent experience (including clinical) with medical/surgical, or OB related nursing experience
  • Well-developed Patient Assessment, Planning Intervention and Evaluation Skills
  • Computer literacy and Meditech knowledge and experience
  • Experience in the management of patient’s requiring the following: Epidural Catheter/Spinal Anaesthetic

 

Abilities:

  • Ability to manage a variety of patient conditions
  • Ability to organize related activities; to remain flexible; and adapt to crisis situations 
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team to provide optimal patient care
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and blended schedule
  • Good attendance and work record is essential
  • Self-directed, motivated team player with a commitment to ongoing professional
  • Sound critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution and timely decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills
